group health & safety policy
It is the policy of the Harte Group that it will carry out all work in accordance
with best practice principles and with full acknowledgement of all relevant
statutory requirements relating to Health and Safety at work. Our investment
in ongoing training and external resources to ensure compliance is
extensive, enabling Harte to undertake a wide variety of projects as Principal
Contractor or Works Contractor as circumstances demand.
Highlights of our Group Health and Safety policy are listed as follows:
- Mr D N Watters is the Director who has primary responsibility for
health and safety matters on behalf of the Board of Directors.
Specific duties and responsibilities will be devolved and
communicated to other Directos, Managers, Supervisors and to each
employee.
- The Group will communicate and enforce safety rules, method
statements and safe systems of work to all personnel involved with
construction activities.
- The Group will provide training to employees to enable them to
work safely and will maintain records of all training provided.
- The Group will not permit anyone under the influence of alcohol or
drugs to be involved with our construction activities. Random tests
are carried out to ensure enforcement.
To facilitate the above, the Group undertakes independent audits and
certification from the following organisations:
- Health and Safety updates and independent auditing provided by
Murval Safety and Training Services.
- The Harte Group is Link-up certified for rail related works.
- Independent Health and Safety accreditation and auditing carried
out by the Envirotec Group
- The Harte Group are a SEPA certified waste carrier.

Group Quality Policy Statement
It is the policy of the Harte Group to establish effective Quality systems for
the management of all projects we undertake.
In support of this we are committed to setting challenging targets for
continual improvement and require everyone's commitment and
co-operation throughout the organisation to consistently deliver client
satisfaction.
To realise these policy objectives, the company and the Directors are
committed to:
- Promoting a culture of quality awareness and responsibility, through
leadership, communication and training, for direct employees,
suppliers and subcontractors.
- Providing adequate resources, including a management
representative, to fulfil the Company's commitments.
- Conducting regular reviews at all levels to monitor performance,
producing plans for improvement, and reporting against objectives.
- Investigating all instances of under-performance to identify root
causes and prevent recurrence.
- Integrating systems for Safety, Health, Environmental, Personnel,
Industrial Relations and Quality, to ensure a seamless, consistent
and effective management system.
- Working at all levels on the principles of 'Right First Time'
construction.
The links between Harte's track record, stability and forward-thinking have
shaped customer confidence in the group's ability to deliver completed
projects within ever-increasing quality demands. Through ongoing
investment in our personnel and the monitoring of quality performance
indicators by both internal and external benchmarking systems, Harte are
continually enhancing working practices to develop a 'Right First Time'
approach to all projects.
