group health & safety policy

It is the policy of the Harte Group that it will carry out all work in accordance with best practice principles and with full acknowledgement of all relevant statutory requirements relating to Health and Safety at work. Our investment in ongoing training and external resources to ensure compliance is extensive, enabling Harte to undertake a wide variety of projects as Principal Contractor or Works Contractor as circumstances demand.

Highlights of our Group Health and Safety policy are listed as follows:

  • Mr D N Watters is the Director who has primary responsibility for health and safety matters on behalf of the Board of Directors. Specific duties and responsibilities will be devolved and communicated to other Directos, Managers, Supervisors and to each employee.

  • The Group will communicate and enforce safety rules, method statements and safe systems of work to all personnel involved with construction activities.

  • The Group will provide training to employees to enable them to work safely and will maintain records of all training provided.

  • The Group will not permit anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs to be involved with our construction activities. Random tests are carried out to ensure enforcement.

To facilitate the above, the Group undertakes independent audits and certification from the following organisations:

  • Health and Safety updates and independent auditing provided by Murval Safety and Training Services.

  • The Harte Group is Link-up certified for rail related works.

  • Independent Health and Safety accreditation and auditing carried out by the Envirotec Group

It is the policy of the Harte Group to establish effective Quality systems for the management of all projects we undertake.

In support of this we are committed to setting challenging targets for continual improvement and require everyone's commitment and co-operation throughout the organisation to consistently deliver client satisfaction.

To realise these policy objectives, the company and the Directors are committed to:

  • Promoting a culture of quality awareness and responsibility, through leadership, communication and training, for direct employees, suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Providing adequate resources, including a management representative, to fulfil the Company's commitments.

  • Conducting regular reviews at all levels to monitor performance, producing plans for improvement, and reporting against objectives.

  • Investigating all instances of under-performance to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.

  • Integrating systems for Safety, Health, Environmental, Personnel, Industrial Relations and Quality, to ensure a seamless, consistent and effective management system.

  • Working at all levels on the principles of 'Right First Time' construction.

The links between Harte's track record, stability and forward-thinking have shaped customer confidence in the group's ability to deliver completed projects within ever-increasing quality demands. Through ongoing investment in our personnel and the monitoring of quality performance indicators by both internal and external benchmarking systems, Harte are continually enhancing working practices to develop a 'Right First Time' approach to all projects.
